Well, last, the tomato story (my edited version).

A man had applied for a job as office boy in Microsoft. The manager was impressed with his abilities and decided to hire him. "Give me your email address, and I will email you the application form as well as the date you are due to start work," the manager said.
"But I do not have an email address," the man replied.
"You are non-existent then, and non-existent people cannot be given a job." the manager told the man.
The man was disappointed and left. He had only $10 with him, so he went to the supermarket to buy a crate of tomatoes. Hilary has yet another critic. O:
& It's one of the people I least expect too. Or maybe I guess.
&& Estella has me torn apart as to whether it is right or wrong or NOYB that that blogger blogged her criticism.
Oh great, I promise myself never ever to touch forums! =="
It's gonna be difficult.
Anyway, I purposely paused my skinning so I could post this.
But I certainly hope that it won't become Blogskins.com frontpage news! If it does, I'll die. Srsly.
So, here goes.
Disclaimer: Before I begin to write about what I feel, please note that I am on neither party's side, I'm simply stating my point of view. Thanks.

First, who is the blogger involved! Not me, certainly. (Hah, spoilt some people's hopes.)
Not Estella either. It's surprisingly, Alicia.
Alicia is a blogskinner too, and I know her not-too-well but I don't expect people like her to do such stuff eh.

Okay, I shall quote excerpts from Alicia's posts regarding Hilary.

Just because Hilary is a featured contributor doesn't mean that she has to make jaw-dropping spectucular one-of-a-kind skins all the time.
If Estella can reason that Alicia has every right to choose what she wants to write on her blog, then Hilary has every right to choose what type of skin she wants to do, oui?
& There doesn't have to be a link between Ashley and Taylor to make a skin!
A good skin is made up of:
1. Proper alignment.
2. Good colour scheme.
3. Interesting theme.
4. Image(s) and colour scheme give the feel of theme.
5. If there is image:
5.1 Good image quality.
5.2 Proper blending.
6. ORIGINALITY.
Isn't it correct?
It doesn't matter if the people used in your images are link-able.
Sometimes by mixing together what others think are un-link-able, you get something really fabulous.
Like one of Estella's (oops, sorry I keep mentioning her! *paiseh*) deleted skins, where she used orange and green.
Personally I find no link between the 2 colours (unless you give me an orange tree) but she came up with something rather beautiful!
& SOTD is not a fair measurement of whether a skin is a notch above the rest.
SOTD, rather, is more of a popularity competition.
The more popular get more SOTDs, although most of SOTDs are really a notch above the rest.
That is why you often see the same people getting SOTDs, like Hilary and Xavqior.
AND, by saying that she can better be FC, is Alicia implying that Hilary is lousy and an understatement of FC?
Hilary worked hard for the accolade, and her hardwork is paying off.
Of course, the blogskinners who have been a blogskinner longer than others are the ones who get all these accolades, because they spent their 1, 2 years plus working hard, doing fantastic skins.
Is it Hilary's fault she is FC?
No, she didn't go to Myles begging on her knees to be FC.
Instead, it was actually blogskins community who wanted her to be FC.
So, blame everyone on blogskins.com who rooted for her, and not Hilary.

Now, moving on.

Like I said, SOTD is not a fair measurement of how well a skin is.
But Top Skins are. So, by comparing Hilary's SOTD to the probability of her own skin TS, it isn't completely fair.
Even though I know it's sarcasm.
Secondly, SOTDS are not chosen by some moderator/administrator.
It is system-based and technically, SOTDs are more or less chosen by the community.
Which is why SOTDs are popularity competitions.

Moving to a different topic, basecodes.
"Basecode is pratically code for you background, profile and post part. Many people who don't know how to code, like me, were using her code as basecode because it always turn out SOTD. And because some really unwanted people highlighted the fact that lots of people use her basecode, she WARNED the world blogskin community not to use her code. And said that if you don't know how to code, don't code. It's not like everybody knows how to code. And she assume that she is so popular that everyone will use her code as base. And she become featured contirbuter right after 6 skins of her getting SOTD. And it's like she become hao lian because of that. God dammit. Like we won't credit her like that. WTH."
I can absolutely understand why Alicia is so uptight over Hilary's ban on using her codes as base, but we have to think in Hilary's perspective.
How would you feel if you knew that lots of people were simply taking your own codes, pasting an image on it and presenting it as their "hardwork"?
& It's not just one or two, but actually many many many.
So many until the general community is sick of the same codes over and over again!
Before I started coding by myself, I was a BIG borrower of basecodes.
So this came as a supra big blow to me, as I borrow naviskin bases from Hilary.
& Also, I had just submitted a navig skin with Hilary's bases the day she posted that forum!
But think of it this way: by doing so, Hilary is actually indirectly encouraging those who don't know how to code, to learn how to!
& Obviously, that's how I started coding my own skins, and trust me, it is tough alright.
So what if not everyone knows how to code?
If you truly want to blogskin, then surely you'd be keen enough to go and learn coding.
There's no such thing as stupid people, just lazy people.
Either you choose to learn, or not, simple right!
Of course I admit that when Hilary said "if you don't know how to code, don't code!", it was rude to say so, but she did edit it (or at least clarify) that she meant "if you don't know how to code, don't code till you've learnt how to!".
That's a major difference.
Hilary didn't assume that everyone would use her base, but there is enough proof to back it.
Surely you should have noticed the trend of Hilary-coded skins!
Is that assumption? No.
No, she's a FC because:
1. People wanted her to be FC.
2. She was a good role model for others to follow.
To be an FC doesn't require you to have lots and lots of SOTDs. =="
Did Hilary become haolian? Did you see her going around saying "I'm the FC, hail me!"?
She didn't ban the use of her codes because people didn't credit her, but because people were taking for granted her codes as well as using it to their advantage.
Creditting someone is VERY different from stealing whole layouts with minor changes to it.
Before assuming what the purpose of something is, get the facts right!

Lastly, to prove that I'm also on Alicia's side.
Hilary posted and apology on forums today.
"Secondly, sorry Alicia. The 0.5 star rating was did in a rash. Although you said that my skins sucked, that my attitude was like shit, you did that to justify the amount of unworthy SOTDs I received.
You wanted me to improve, I understand. I'm sorry."
Well, SOTD should be a measurement of how good a skin is, not how popular the blogskinner is, so yes, Hilary did get some unworthy SOTDs.

I guess that both sides have fault.
Alicia was too harsh on Hilary, and Hilary was misunderstood that purpose of Alicia's harsh words.
Don't misunderstand my post, although I posted much more when quoting Alicia's posts than when I quoted Hilary's apology, I still am on neither side.

The world is unfair, complicated, contradictive & harsh place.

Really really lastly, to end off....
Life is full of the good, the bad and the ugly.
We've got to take it all in our stride, and go on with life.
Life is too short to have a heavy heart full of hatred and anguish and grudges and regrets.
Take it in, let it out, just don't leave it there.
